It has been a busy season not only for the HeliRes crew but for all working from bases in Antarctica. Our challenge was for Antarctic based personnel to use a high res device to capture HeliRes in action… and we were overwhelmed by the response. The quality of the entries was impressive and we would like to thank everyone who took the time to capture these images and enter the competition.
But there can only be one winner…. drum roll please… we would like to congratulate Stuart Shaw, Information Technology Officer at Casey Station, who captured this photo of a media contingency covering a Minister’s visit to Casey Station, Antarctica.
Winner of the HeliRes
2016 / 17 Antarctic Season
The judging panel were unanimous in their decision with Stuart managing to capture a different side of the HeliRes business. Stuart has won a 20 minute Helicopter flight for 5 people taking in the amazing sights of Hobart and its surrounds. Valued at over $1,000.00 we look forward to welcoming Stuart and his friends onboard.
But as we mentioned earlier the competition was tough and we’d like to make a couple of honourable mentions.
Commendations go to Aaron Stanley (Davis Station) for the diversity of his images including flying over the Vestfold Hills from Davis Station.
Tobias Staal (Casey & Davis Stations) for his photographs along with capturing an action shot near Lake Snezhnyj with Marcello Blaxell in the foreground.
